BAR/BAT MITZVAH
LESSONS
- “Bar/Bat Mitzvah” translates literally as "son/daughter of the commandment."
- A boy attains his religious maturity and becomes responsible to
- fulfill all Torah commandments (mitzvot) at the age of 13.
- A girl becomes equally responsible one year earlier, at the age of 12. This occasion is cause for great celebration and gratitude to G‑d,
- and hence the Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony.
- One becomes Bar/Bat Mitzvah automatically on one's
- twelfth or thirteenth birthday, with or without a party!
- This can be a daunting ordeal or a joyful, memorable and meaningful experience.
- Chabad of Patchogue can help to prepare for the transition
- to Jewish adulthood in a relaxed and friendly way.
- We assist in making this time meaningful and inspiring,
- o your child's Jewish identity will be reinforced
- and he/she will be proud of his/her heritage.
