Jewish outreach organization dedicated to providing the spiritual, emotional, and material needs of Arizonans who live distant from formal Jewish infrastructure.

That’s what Suzanne Miles of Show Low said—after two years of believing she was the only Jewish soul in the entire White Mountains region.

Across the ponderosa pines of Rim Country, the cool lakes of the White Mountains, and the wide expanses of Gila, Navajo, and Apache Counties, Jewish souls are scattered like stars. Some are retirees. Some are ranchers. Some haven’t set foot in a synagogue in fifty years. All of them are family—and Chabad of NE Rural Arizona exists so that not a single one is ever forgotten.

We are Arizona’s first permanent roving Chabad center, dedicated to bringing the warmth and joy of Torah-true Judaism to every Jew in the rural northeast—with active programming in Payson, Pinetop-Lakeside, Show Low, and the towns and homesteads in between.

What they offer

Chabad of NE Rural Arizona is a Jewish community centre in Phoenix, led by Rabbi Yaakov Cahnman.

There is a synagogue on the premises. Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. Kosher meals are available on a meal plan. Accommodation for guests can be arranged. A kosher store is run here. There is a Judaica shop. They kosher kitchens for the community.

Classes run regularly, one-to-one study can be arranged, courses from the Jewish Learning Institute are taught and public lectures are held. There is a library.

Older children and young adults have a young professionals' circle.

They officiate at weddings, circumcisions and funerals. Couples are prepared for marriage. A chevra kadisha serves the community.

The center visits patients in hospital, visits Jewish prisoners, serves military personnel, looks after the elderly, distributes food packages, provides humanitarian aid, runs a soup kitchen, runs a free loan fund, works to prevent drug and alcohol abuse, helps people find work, counsels families facing cults and missionaries, runs a club for seniors and serves travelers at the airport.

There is a women's group. There is a men's club. Holiday programs run through the year, hands on. Mezuzos and tefillin can be checked here. A mitzvah tank goes out from here.
