Meet Rabbi Mendy and Chaya Singer, a vibrant and enthusiastic family team dedicated to revitalizing Jewish life in Bristol.

Their warmth, care, and goal-oriented approach are fueled by their passion for Judaism and love for their fellow Jews. Through personal connections, Torah classes, community events and Shabbat dinners, they provide a wholesome Jewish experience for the students and the community in Bristol.

Chabad of Bristol serves as a community centre for Bristol's Jewish community and a resource for Jews across the southwest region of England.

Additionally, as the only Chabad for the South West region, we regularly visit the Jewish students and communities in Bath, Cardiff, Exeter, and Plymouth, as well as local Jews throughout the region.

What they offer

Chabad of Bristol is a Chabad house on campus in Bristol, led by Rabbi Mendy Singer.

There is a synagogue on the premises. Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. A kosher store is run here. There is a Judaica shop. They kosher kitchens for the community.

Classes run regularly, one-to-one study can be arranged, courses from the Jewish Learning Institute are taught and public lectures are held. There is a library.

Older children and young adults have bar and bat mitzvah instruction.

They officiate at weddings, circumcisions and funerals. Couples are prepared for marriage. A chevra kadisha serves the community.

The center visits patients in hospital, visits Jewish prisoners, serves military personnel, looks after the elderly, distributes food packages, runs a soup kitchen and runs a free loan fund.

There is a women's group. Mezuzos and tefillin can be checked here.
