Chabad of Bournemouth was first established in 1988 by Lubavitch UK at a premises in Gordon Road, Boscombe, catering to the spiritual needs of Jews in Bournemouth and the entire southwest region.

In 1989, Rabbi Yossie & Chanie Alperowitz were appointed as shulchim (emmisaries) of the Rebbe , Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson of righteous memory, to serve as Directors of Chabad of Bournemouth. Ever since their arrival, a wide range of educational and social activities for all segments of the community has been initiated and established, and their success in this field has become world renowned. With our policy of accepting all Jews regardless of affiliation and religious background, we welcome all Jews to join and partake in all of our activities, and experience Judaism, with meaning, love and joy. Our activities include: Adult Education , Shul Services , Communal Lectures , Cafe Chabad , Chabad Hebrew School (Cheder) for children , Holiday Awareness Programs , Kosher Deli , Women's Group , Bar/Bat Mitzva instruction, Hospital Visitation, Kitchen Koshering, Jewish Library, Marriage Preparation, Mezuzah and Tefillin Checking, One-on-One Study, Seniors Visitation and Shabbat Hospitality

What they offer

Chabad Lubavitch of Bournemouth is a Chabad house in Bournemouth, led by Rabbi Yosef Alperowitz.

There is a synagogue on the premises. Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. They kosher kitchens for the community.

Classes run regularly, one-to-one study can be arranged, courses from the Jewish Learning Institute are taught and public lectures are held. There is a library.

For children there is a preschool, a Hebrew school, after-school programmes and a children's club.

Older children and young adults have a teen club and bar and bat mitzvah instruction.

They officiate at funerals. Couples are prepared for marriage. A chevra kadisha serves the community.

The center visits patients in hospital, looks after the elderly and distributes food packages.

There is a women's group. Mezuzos and tefillin can be checked here.
