Jewish Community Center in Victoria, BC, led by Rabbi Meir Kaplan.

Inspired by the Rebbe - Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, of blessed memory - Chabad welcomes everyone who is seeking the wisdom and warmth of Judaism, regardless of religious background, affiliation, or financial means.

Chabad enriches Jewish identity and helps ensure Jewish continuity through a variety of educational, religious and social services that increase Jewish pride, knowledge and commitment.

Chabad of Vancouver Island is dedicated to serving and reaching out to all Jews on Vancouver Island and to extend a hand with physical and spiritual support to those in need.

Rabbi Meir was born and raised in Tzefat, Israel, where his father was the founder and director of Chabad institutions and his mother worked as a teacher of advanced Jewish studies in a women’s college in the city.

What they offer

Chabad of Vancouver Island is a Jewish community centre in Victoria, led by Rabbi Meir Kaplan.

There is a synagogue on the premises. Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. They kosher kitchens for the community.

Classes run regularly, one-to-one study can be arranged, courses from the Jewish Learning Institute are taught and public lectures are held. There is a library.

For children there is a preschool and after-school programmes.

Older children and young adults have bar and bat mitzvah instruction.

Couples are prepared for marriage.

The center visits patients in hospital, visits Jewish prisoners and looks after the elderly.

There is a women's group.
