HARMONY of body & Spirit

MIKVAH GOLDA is dedicated to welcoming all Jewish women, both those familiar and those new to the mikvah experience, into a space of spiritual connection and purity. Our goal is to offer an experience that excels in both material comfort and spiritual enrichment, creating a serene environment where the mitzvah of mikvah can be observed without anxiety or intimidation.

Inspired by the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, we believe in the profound significance of the mikvah in Jewish life. The Rebbe emphasized the mikvah as a cornerstone of Jewish family purity, a symbol of renewal and spiritual rejuvenation. He spoke of its power to strengthen Jewish homes and communities, nurturing a deep and personal connection to our heritage and faith.

In this spirit, MIKVAH GOLDA serves as a haven where every visit becomes a deeply personal journey of renewal and connection to the timeless tradition of Taharat Hamishpacha.

MIKVAH GOLDA, generously donated to the community in 2023 by David & Josie Kakon along with their daughters Leah, Sarah, Rivkah, and Rachel, was officially inaugurated on the 4th of Shvat 5784. This sacred space stands as a tribute to the memory of Rebbetzin Golda Schwei, Z”L, whose dedication to family purity and Taharat Hamishpacha profoundly inspired the Kakon family.

Rebbetzin Golda Schwei, a beacon of inspiration in Montreal and wife of Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Isaac Schwei, was a significant influence on many. Born in Leningrad, she lived through the tumult of World War II and the subsequent challenges faced by her family as Lubavitcher Chassidim supporting underground Yeshivos in Russia.

After marrying Rabbi Isaac Schwei in Crown Heights in 5718, with the Rebbe officiating their wedding, they moved to Montreal. Rabbi Schwei, under the Rebbe's direction, contributed significantly to the Jewish community, including being the Rosh Yeshiva of Tomchei Tmimim and a founding figure of the Lubavitch Youth Organization and Beth Rivkah.

Rebbetzin Schwei, surviving her husband, continued to inspire women and girls in Montreal, leading the organization "Institute for Brides & Grooms" in Montreal for over 50 years, a significant project directed by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, focusing on educating and supporting young couples in building homes enriched with Torah and Mitzvot. This initiative, reflecting her dedication to Jewish values, continues to make a lasting impact on the community. A letter from the Lubavitcher Rebbe to the Institute of Brides & Grooms ( read the letter here ), acknowledging and encouraging Rebbetzin Schwei’s efforts, is a cherished testament to her contributions.
