Chaplaincy
Chaplaincy / Spiritual Care
As defined by Bruce Rumbold of La Trobe University School of Public Health, Pastoral care is a person centred, holistic approach to care that complements the care offered by other helping disciplines while paying particular attention to spiritual care. The focus of pastoral care is upon the healing, guiding, supporting, reconciling, nurturing, liberating and empowering of people in whatever situation they find themselves.
Holistic health is a concept in medical practice upholding that all aspects of people's needs, psychological, physical and social should be taken into account and seen as a whole. As defined above, the holistic view on treatment is widely accepted in medicine. Therefore chaplains services being provided in all hospitals, however till today there aren’t any dedicated Jewish chaplains to meet Jewish patient’s needs.
Pastoral care is offering emotional support and spiritual care by helping people connect with their own inner and community resources.
