The Chabad Jewish Center of North Dakota is dedicated to providing a positive Jewish experience for every Jew regardless of background, philosophy, or level of commitment.

Chabad had been sending representatives to North Dakota for decades through the annual Roving Rabbis program in which Chabad rabbinical students spend their summer vacation visiting remote locations, often without an established Jewish community, to share the joy of Jewish living with local Jews.

Rabbi Yonah Grossman was born in Long Beach, CA, and raised in Chicago, IL, where he received his early education. Rabbi Grossman went on to study in the prestigious Lubavitch Mesivta of Chicago and continued his Rabbinical education in New York and Israel, completing his course of study in 2010. As a rabbinical student, he visited various communities in the United States, Israel, and Ukraine, leading holiday programs and supporting the local Jewish infrastructure.

Mrs. Esti Grossman was born and raised in Amsterdam, Netherlands, where she had a primary education with the Montessori method. Esti spent her high school and seminary years at Les Institutions Scolaires Beth Rivkah in Yerres, France. Her courses included a focus on religious education and pedagogical techniques, and she graduated with a teachers certificate in 2008, staying on for three years as a dormitory administrator.

What they offer

Chabad Jewish Center of North Dakota is a Chabad house in Fargo, led by Rabbi Yonah Grossman.

There is a synagogue on the premises. Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. A kosher store is run here. They kosher kitchens for the community.

Classes run regularly, one-to-one study can be arranged, courses from the Jewish Learning Institute are taught and public lectures are held. There is a library.

For children there is a children's club.

Older children and young adults have bar and bat mitzvah instruction.

They officiate at weddings, circumcisions and funerals. Couples are prepared for marriage. A chevra kadisha serves the community.

The center visits patients in hospital, visits Jewish prisoners, serves military personnel, looks after the elderly and provides humanitarian aid.
