What they offer
National Committee for Furtherance of Jewish Education is a Jewish community centre in Brooklyn, led by Rabbi Sholem Ber Hecht.
Classes run regularly, one-to-one study can be arranged and public lectures are held.
For children there is a Hebrew school and after-school programmes.
Older children and young adults have a teen club.
They officiate at funerals. Couples are prepared for marriage.
The center visits patients in hospital, visits Jewish prisoners, looks after the elderly, distributes food packages, provides humanitarian aid, runs a soup kitchen, runs a free loan fund, helps people who are homeless, works to prevent drug and alcohol abuse, helps people find work and counsels families facing cults and missionaries.
Holiday programs run through the year, hands on. They produce television and radio programs.
