Chabad of Paramus

Rabbi Levi and Mussi Marasow moved to Paramus at the end of 2023 to expand the work of Chabad of Paramus. Their goal: making Judaism more joyful, accessible, and relatable for the Jews of Paramus and the surrounding towns (Oradell, River Edge, Maywood, and Rochelle Park.) Inspired by the vision and work of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, they are committed to bringing the Paramus community together with learning opportunities and Jewish programming, fostering a sense of unity and spiritual growth.

A native of the Twin Cities, Minnesota, Rabbi Moshe has called Paramus his home for the past 20+ years. He studied in Yeshivas in the US and as far Paris and Manchester, followed by a Rabbinic internship in Minnesota, and later completed his rabbinical studies in New Jersey. After establishing Chabad of Paramus in 2002, Rabbi Grossbaum and his wife, Zeesy, direct the Friendship Circle of Bergen County, an organization that touches the lives of hundreds of children, teens, and adults with special needs. In addition, he directs The Living Legacy, running innovative workshops such as the Shofar Factory, Olive Press, and the Model Matza Bakery, bringing Judaism alive for the thousands of school children he meets each year. (Before moving to Paramus, he was involved in the Living Legacy in places as exotic as Sydney, Australia, Milan, Italy, and locales accross the United States.) Although he wears many hats, the title that makes him proudest is that of Zeidy to his four adorable grandchildren (Kinahorah). Rabbi Grossbaum continues to provide guidance to the members of the community, and often officiates at funerals held in Cedar Park/Beth E-l Cemetery.

Born in Paris, France to a family of Chabad emissaries (fun fact: Levi's grandfather organized a grand Menorah lighting in front of the Eiffel Tower annually), Rabbi Levi always knew that he wanted to "stay in the business" and become a Shliach. Rabbi Levi studied in Yeshiva in France, after which he interned in Montreal and Detroit, and then got his rabbinical degree at the Chabad Yeshiva in Brooklyn. His educational and community experience has not only deepened his understanding of Jewish teachings but also shaped his approach to community leadership and spiritual guidance in Paramus. Rabbi Levi Marasow's infectious optimism and joyful personality drives his commitment and dedication to his community, and the four languages he speaks are a plus. His love of meeting new people is rivaled only by his love of coffee- so meeting you for coffee would be the best of the both worlds!

Mussi is the director of community events and programs. As a Paramus native (if you don't count her first weeks spent in Brooklyn before the family's move to Paramus), Mussi, the oldest daughter of Rabbi Moshe and Zeesy Grossbaum, is uniquely positioned to understand and service the needs of the local community. As a young child, Mussi was inspired by her parents' dedication to serving the special needs community through their revolutionary organization, The Friendship Circle. She spent two years at Beit Chana Tzfat, Israel, a teaching seminary, and subsequently taught in Brooklyn. Mussi is devoted to teaching people of all ages, infusing her work with warmth and a deep commitment to her community. Her bi-weekly Torah and Tea Class is swiftly becoming a fan favorite. Mussi is known for making a delicious Shabbat dinner- you're invited!
