Established in September 2001, the Chabad Jewish Center, under the leadership of Rabbi Moshe and Shaindel Schapiro is dedicated to building community and serving the spiritual and physical needs of all Jews with unconditional love and acceptance.

In September of 2015, Rabbi Shmuly and Esta Levitin joined our team and founded Chabad Young Professionals of Hoboken and Jersey City, servicing the growing young professional community here with an array of creative events and activities.

In that same year, a group of parents, looking for an educational model that surpassed any other, joined forces and the My Little Gan Preschool opened its doors. Under the leadership of Shaindel Schapiro, it has grown to include infants, toddlers and even Kindergarten and through word of mouth alone became a household name.

In September of 2025, a second location of both Chabad and the My Little Gan Preschool, was opened in Jersey City!

What they offer

Chabad Lubavitch of Hoboken is a Chabad house in Hoboken, led by Rabbi Moshe Schapiro.

There is a synagogue on the premises. Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. They kosher kitchens for the community.

Classes run regularly, one-to-one study can be arranged, courses from the Jewish Learning Institute are taught and public lectures are held. There is a library.

For children there is a preschool, after-school programmes and a mother-and-child group.

Older children and young adults have bar and bat mitzvah instruction and a young professionals' circle.

They officiate at weddings, circumcisions and funerals. Couples are prepared for marriage.

The center visits patients in hospital, visits Jewish prisoners, looks after the elderly, distributes food packages and provides humanitarian aid.

There is a women's group. Mezuzos and tefillin can be checked here.
