A year to grow — not a year off.
Some students are preparing to begin college. Others are taking a break from university and looking for more direction. This is a year to grow, gain direction, build a Torah foundation, and prepare for life and the real world as a Jew.
Preparing to begin college
Use the year between high school and campus to build a Torah foundation, gain direction, and arrive at college grounded in who you are as a Jew.
Taking a break from university
Step out of the lecture hall and into the beis midrash. A year of structure, learning, and clarity before you continue college or begin your career.
Serious Torah, designed for today's student.
- The heart of the year is a full-time, structured learning schedule in a warm and welcoming Chabad yeshiva environment. Special experiences fill the calendar — but the main focus is serious Torah learning.
- ChassidusThe Chassidic teachings of the Chabad Rebbes — study that speaks to the soul as much as the mind, morning and evening.
- TalmudLearn to read a page of Gemara yourself: the questions, the arguments, and the reasoning of a three-thousand-year-old conversation.
- Jewish LawHalacha for real life — how a Jew eats, works, rests, and celebrates, learned as living practice rather than theory.
- ParshaThe weekly Torah portion, studied in depth so the yearly cycle becomes your own calendar of ideas.
- TefillahDavening with a minyan, morning to night — prayer as a daily discipline and a daily conversation.
- Growth & GuidancePersonal growth and career guidance woven through the year, so the next step after yeshiva is a confident one.
Structure, community, and a made bed.
- Students live in the Torah Ohr dormitory and receive three meals a day — the structure, community, and support you need to focus entirely on learning and growth.
- Dormitory Modern housing at the yeshiva
- Three meals a day Fresh kosher cooking, daily
- Full schedule Morning Chassidus to evening Maariv
- Miami, Florida Warmth in every sense
The experiences around the learning.
- ShabbatonsFull Shabbos experiences with the community — the table, the songs, the rest that recharges the whole week.
- FarbrengensLate-night Chassidic gatherings where the learning turns personal — stories, niggunim, and honest conversation.
- Melava MalkasEscorting the Shabbos Queen out with music and a meal — the week begins with joy, not a Monday.
- Community outreachBring what you learn to the wider Miami Jewish community. Torah grows when it is given away.
- TripsOccasional trips across Miami and South Florida — the beach is steps away, and the chevra travels together.
- A chevra for lifeA small cohort of young men from all backgrounds. The friendships formed over a shared page last a lifetime.
Ask the ones who came.
Torah Ohr changed my life. The rabbis here do not just teach — they mentor, guide, and inspire. I came for a semester and stayed for two years.
The learning environment is unmatched. Small classes, passionate teachers, and a chevra that pushes you to grow every single day.
Miami Beach, extraordinary rabbis, and a community that feels like family. Torah Ohr gave me the foundation for everything I have built since.
A bridge between yeshiva and life.
One of the unique advantages of Torah Ohr is what comes after the gap year — a pathway that carries the learning into the real world instead of ending at the door.
