בית חב"ד קייפטאון לישראלים ומטיילים | A Home Away from Home | Shabbat and holiday experiences and a warm hub for Jewish visitors and the local Israeli community.

Renowned as the most beautiful city in the world, Cape Town welcomes thousands of Jewish travelers each year. Chabad of Cape Town was established in 1976 by Rabbi Mendel and Rebbetzin Avigail Popack bringing the spark of Judaism to the entire community. In 2023, Rabbi Chezki and Chanchi Malka were appointed to open the Chabad House Cape Town for Israelis & Tourists , serving as a warm Home Away from Home —offering Shabbat and holiday experiences, assistance for every need, Torah learning, and a vibrant hub and a space for both visitors and the local Israeli community.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, taught that every Jew deserves love, care, and a sense of belonging. Inspired by this vision, the Chabad House Cape Town for Israelis & Tourists serves as a home away from home, where each person is embraced and welcomed—creating a space of warmth, community, and heartfelt Jewish connection.

Chabad Houses and their rabbis and rebbetzins operate independently, without central funding. Thanks to generous friends like you, we can continue offering Shabbat meals, holiday celebrations, Torah learning, and personal support for every visitor and community member—helping travelers feel at home, assisting with kosher food and every need, providing a warm, welcoming space for everyone who walks through our doors. Be a part of it!
