The journey of Rabbi Mendel Goldberg reflects leadership, global experience, and a deep commitment to Jewish continuity. Raised in France, he pursued advanced rabbinical studies in Brunoy , Kfar Chabad , Jerusalem , and New York , before being entrusted with missions to Jewish communities across Africa, Europe, and the South Pacific. These experiences shaped a vision rooted in adaptability, service, and a deep understanding of Jewish communities around the world.

What they offer

Chabad Lubavitch Jewish Center of Playa Del Carmen is a Chabad house in Playa Del Carmen, led by Rabbi Mendel Goldberg.

There is a synagogue on the premises. Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. Kosher meals are available on a meal plan. They kosher kitchens for the community. A mikveh is available.

Classes run regularly and one-to-one study can be arranged. There is a library.

For children there is after-school programmes, a children's club and a mother-and-child group.

Older children and young adults have a teen club and bar and bat mitzvah instruction.

They officiate at weddings, circumcisions and funerals. Couples are prepared for marriage. A chevra kadisha serves the community.

The center visits patients in hospital, visits Jewish prisoners, looks after the elderly, distributes food packages and provides humanitarian aid.

There is a women's group. Mezuzos and tefillin can be checked here.
