Центр Хабада в Латвии начал свою деятельность в марте 1992 года. Тогда в Латвию приехал посланник Любавического Ребе раввин Мордехай Глазман, с женой и сыном. Их задачей было возрождение еврейской жизни в новой независимой Прибалтийской стране. Вскоре к нему присоединился раввин Шнеор Коот, и позже раввин Акива Кремер вместе с их семьями. Посланники Ребе обосновались в Риге; работа Хабада стала их жизнью. За эти годы в еврейской жизни страны произошли колоссальные изменения. Слабая еврейская община стала действенной силой. Молодое поколение не стесняется признавать свое еврейство. Все большее число родителей дает своим детям еврейское образование. Сотни евреев посещают праздничные мероприятия. Адрес Хабада знают все. Это место, где люди могут получить информацию, помощь во всем, что имеет отношение к еврейству.

The Chabad Community Center is a new place in town, but it brings with it some of the oldest and richest Jewish traditions. Our aim is to give meaning, share joy, and add spirituality to the everyday. Our dream is to teach these values in a warm and nurturing environment where families can grow together, enjoying life and Judaism simultaneously. Together we can kindle the spirit of Jewish values in our homes. Chabad recognizes all Jews, regardless of their affiliation, perspectives on Judaism or levels of observances. A Jew is a Jew is a Jew. Period. We have one G d. We have one Torah. And we are one People. We offer a plethora of services, activities and classes for all ages. The Chabad Lubavitch Center is located at Dzirnavu St. 29 and houses a Prayer Hall, classrooms, Gmach Medical Lending Center, Rabbi's office, Teen Club, Student Lounge, and more.

The Chabad Preschool, Day School, Humanitarian Aid Center and Kosher Catering Service are located at 141 Lapclesa St. Kosher food, baked goods, and Shabbat meals including Challah and wine can be bought on premises or delivered anywhere in Riga at your expense. Orders should be made in advance here .
