What they offer

Ohr Avner Chabad is a Chabad house in Almaty, led by Rabbi Shevach Zlatopolsky.

There is a synagogue on the premises. Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. They kosher kitchens for the community.

Classes run regularly, one-to-one study can be arranged, courses from the Jewish Learning Institute are taught and public lectures are held. There is a library.

For children there is a preschool, after-school programmes and a children's club.

Older children and young adults have a teen club and bar and bat mitzvah instruction.

They officiate at weddings.

The center looks after the elderly, provides humanitarian aid and runs a soup kitchen.
