Chabad of the Old City

What they offer

Chabad of the Old City is a Chabad house in Safed, led by Rabbi Gavriel Marzel.

There is a synagogue on the premises. Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. Accommodation for guests can be arranged. There is a Judaica shop. They kosher kitchens for the community. There is a mikveh for men. Dishes can be toveled here.

Classes run regularly, one-to-one study can be arranged and public lectures are held. There is a library.

For children there is a Hebrew school, after-school programmes and a children's club.

Older children and young adults have bar and bat mitzvah instruction and a bar mitzvah club.

They officiate at weddings. Couples are prepared for marriage.

The center visits patients in hospital, looks after the elderly, runs a soup kitchen and runs a free loan fund.

There is a women's group. Mezuzos and tefillin can be checked here.
