Our precious Jewish heritage has been safeguarded from its earliest inception with body and soul. Yet, 3000 years later, we find ourselves on the en-dangered species list, detached from community and religion. Will our generation be the weak link in a chain that spans 60 generations, (heaven forfend)? Keenly aware that the future of Judaism lies in actively engaging in its hallowed traditions, Chabad spearheads a worldwide campaign, designed to strengthen Jewish awareness and observance. In keeping with a philosophy of love and care for every Jew, Chabad is devoted to strengthen the roots and commitment of co-religionists. With over 3,900 centers on five continents, the name “Chabad” has become a household name; synonymous with Jewish outreach and continuity. Locally, Chabad shares the warmth and joy of our rich Jewish heritage through a host of in-novative programs and activities, spanning the distinction of age, gender, affiliation and knowledge level. Chabad in the River City has in fact increased its activities exponentially in recent years, expanding its programs and adding satellite branches and personnel. Here at Chabad Head- quarters in Mandarin, we are all deeply committed to helping ignite a Jewish renaissance on the First Coast. Be Part of the solution! In 1992, Rabbi Yoseph and Rivke Kahanov were sent to Jacksonville by the Lubavitcher Rebbe to establish the first Chabad center in Northeast Florida. What began in a small storefront has, over 35 years, grown into a vibrant network of eight Chabad centers across the First Coast. Today, Chabad stands as the leading force in Jewish life and education throughout Northeast Florida.

In 2023, Rabbi Velvil and Estie Kahanov joined Chabad of Jacksonville to manage its operations. Following in the footsteps of Velvil’s parents, Rabbi Yoseph and Rivke Kahanov, and drawing on Estie’s upbringing in the Chabad at the University of Chicago, they continue to expand programs and community engagement across the First Coast, bringing more people together in Jewish life and learning.

With over 20 years in education, Rabbi Mnedy abd Nechama Browd bring a wealth of knowledge that enriches the programs and experiences within the community.
