The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson of righteous memory (1902-1994), the seventh leader in the Chabad-Lubavitch dynasty, is considered by many to have been the most influential Jewish personality of modern times. To hundreds of thousands of followers and millions of admirers around the world, he was — and still is, despite his passing — “the Rebbe”, the individual most responsible for stirring the conscience and spiritual awakening of world Jewry.

What they offer

Chabad of Hampstead Garden Suburb is a Jewish community centre in London, led by Rabbi Bentzi Sudak.

Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. There is a Judaica shop. They kosher kitchens for the community.

Classes run regularly, one-to-one study can be arranged, courses from the Jewish Learning Institute are taught and public lectures are held.

For children there is after-school programmes, a children's club and a mother-and-child group.

Older children and young adults have a teen club, bar and bat mitzvah instruction, a bar mitzvah club, a bat mitzvah club and a young professionals' circle.

They officiate at weddings. Couples are prepared for marriage.

The center visits patients in hospital, looks after the elderly and distributes food packages.

There is a women's group. Mezuzos and tefillin can be checked here.
