Rabbi Sholom and Devora Lezell, are deeply committed to building and nurturing a vibrant Jewish community in the East End of Toronto. Sholom's journey began in the heart of Crown Heights NY, immersed in the spiritual atmosphere near the Lubavitcher Rebbe, and continued with four years of studying at Oholei Torah Talmudic Seminary in Brooklyn NY.
He continued his studies in Manchester, England, than receiving his Rabbinical ordination at the prestigious Semicha Academy in Melbourne, Australia.
In his teens, Influenced by the Rebbe's love of every Jew, inculcating within his students the sense of responsibility to be a positive influence, Sholom used his free time to volunteer and organize holiday outreach programs, prison visitation, weekly Teffilin visitations where he would share the beauty of our heritage with unaffiliated Jews.
Sholom also played a role in the remarkable revitalization of Jewish life in the former Soviet Union visiting the communities of Poltava, Ukraine, and Rubinsk, Russia to arrange community Seders for Passover, breathing new life into these reemerging Jewish communities.
