chabaduc.orgChabad Center of University City is available to serve the Jewish community of University City, San Diego and beyond.
Our synagogue began in 1978 as Chabad of La Jolla , when a small group of devoted individuals gathered in a private home to pray and celebrate Jewish life together.
As the community grew, so did its needs. After several moves, a remarkable opportunity arose in 1997: the Bank of America building on Governor Drive announced it would be closing. Without hesitation, the passionate members of Chabad seized the chance to acquire this beautiful space and create a permanent home.
Two years of tireless effort, fundraising, and community spirit brought that dream to life. The building was purchased and dedicated as the Chabad Jewish Center of University City .
Today, Chabad of UC stands as one of the most vibrant centers of Jewish life in San Diego. The synagogue offers a full spectrum of programming — from adult education classes and family events to men’s and women’s groups, daily services, and so much more.
