A place to pray, learn, celebrate, connect, and belong. Whether you live locally, are travelling through Byron Shire, or are simply searching for Jewish connection, our doors are open and you are always welcome.

Founded in 2020 by Rabbi Tomer Ben Harosh, Inbar Rachel Ben Harosh, and their children, Chabad Byron Shire was established with a simple vision:

“To create a vibrant Jewish center where every Jew can find inspiration, meaning, connection, and a genuine sense of belonging.”

Since then, Chabad Byron Shire has become the Jewish home of the Northern Rivers, welcoming local families, Israeli residents, backpackers, travelers, visitors, and Jewish tourists from around the world.

What they offer

Chabad Byron Shire is a Chabad house in Mullumbimby, led by Rabbi Tomer Ben Harosh.

There is a synagogue on the premises. Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. A kosher store is run here. They kosher kitchens for the community.

Classes run regularly, one-to-one study can be arranged and public lectures are held.

For children there is after-school programmes, a children's club and a mother-and-child group.

Older children and young adults have a bar mitzvah club.

They officiate at weddings, circumcisions and funerals. Couples are prepared for marriage. A chevra kadisha serves the community.

The center visits patients in hospital.
