Founders of the JDC in 2003, Rabbi Benny and Chany have been pillars of warmth, inspiration, and inclusion in NEPA for 25 years. They moved to Clarks Summit in the fall of 2000, inspired by the visionary leadership of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, with a mission to reach out to every Jew—offering both material and spiritual support to build a stronger, more connected Jewish community. Their work embodies the core values of Chabad-Lubavitch: unconditional love, the sharing of timeless Jewish wisdom, and creating a welcoming home for all.

Rabbi Benny is a natural connector with a passion for people. He enjoys engaging with individuals from all walks of life and sees each person as a soul with infinite value—a spark of the Divine. Whether in conversation, teaching, or offering guidance, his warmth and sincerity shine through. His favorite motto reflects his unique approach: “I’m not G‑d’s policeman—I’m His salesman.”

Chany is the quiet force and nurturing heart behind Chabad’s success in NEPA. An educator with over 30 years of experience, she studies with people of all ages and backgrounds—in classrooms, homes, and one-on-one settings. Her wisdom, empathy, and steady guidance have touched countless lives.

Chany is also the director of the JDC’s programs for the elderly and is known for her ability to create welcoming experiences at holiday celebrations, women’s gatherings, or intimate Shabbat meals. Her signature blend of grace, warmth, and generosity is felt in every corner of the community.
