In May 2008, Rabbi Mendy and Chanie Hurwitz established a Chabad Jewish Community Center in Yonkers. Their goal is reach out to the Jews in Yonkers and bring them the true light and joy of Judaism.

What they offer
Chabad-Lubavitch of Yonkers is a Chabad house in Yonkers, led by Rabbi Mendy Hurwitz.
There is a synagogue on the premises. Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. They kosher kitchens for the community.
Classes run regularly and one-to-one study can be arranged.
For children there is a Hebrew school and after-school programmes.
Older children and young adults have bar and bat mitzvah instruction.
They officiate at weddings, circumcisions and funerals. Couples are prepared for marriage.
The center visits patients in hospital and looks after the elderly.
There is a women's group. Mezuzos and tefillin can be checked here.
