Chabad House of Northern Rhode Island

Rabbi Aryeh and Mushka Laufer embarked on their life journey together in 2015. They are a dynamic couple who have been involved in Jewish education and outreach all their lives. Aryeh and Mushka are known for their warm and welcoming hospitality. Their many guests enjoy their passionate sharing of Judaism, friendly atmosphere and great food!

At the end of 2016 the Laufers moved to Lincoln to establish a new Chabad House to cater to the Jewish community of northern RI. Chabad of Northern RI offers a variety of adult and children’s educational programming including courses from the world renowned Jewish Learning Institute, Jewish Women’s Circle, and Hebrew school of the arts. They conduct Shabbat and holiday services and offer programs and meals at their synagogue and home. In addition, they offer a wide range of other Jewish services including officiating at weddings, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, and funerals; and visits to senior homes and centers, hospitals and prisons. The Laufers have a full Jewish lending library and are delighted to host one-on-one or small group study sessions with all who have a question or subject they’d like to explore.

Chabad-Lubavitch is a philosophy, a movement, and an organization. It’s considered to be the most dynamic force in Jewish life today.

Philosophy: The word "Chabad" is a Hebrew acronym for the three intellectual faculties of: chachmah -wisdom, binah -comprehension and da'at -knowledge. The movement's system of Jewish religious philosophy, the deepest dimension of G‑d's Torah, teaches understanding and recognition of the Creator, the role and purpose of Creation, and the importance and unique mission of each Creature. This philosophy guides a person to refine and govern his and her every act and feeling through wisdom, comprehension and knowledge.
