Chabad of Sunnyvale

To many, the word Chabad connotes a warm smile, an unconditional love for every human being and an extraordinary commitment to Jewish education. Chabad of Sunnyvale was founded in September of 2003 by Rabbi Yisroel Hecht and his wife Miriam to act as an independant sattelite location of Chabad of Greater South Bay. Chabad of Sunnyvale serves all segments of the Jewish Community of Sunnyvale with its Youth Programming, Adult Education, Social and Material Services, and Synagogue Services.

Mission Statement: The aim and goal of Chabad of Sunnyvale is to educate, inspire and help every Jew increase their level of Jewish knowledge, enthusiasm and commitment. With unconditional love and respect, Chabad of Sunnyvale welcomes all Jews with a non-judgmental and pleasant approach .

Miriam (nee Lent), a native of Manchester, England , was educated at the Beth Chaya Mushkah Seminary in Montreal, Canada where she also trained as a teacher. She continued her studies at Beth Rivka Seminary in New York, before returning to England where she taught and developed curriculum for Beth Menachem in Manchester. Since moving to Palo Alto in 2001, Miriam has been very active in the community, co-directing the Camp Gan Israel Summer Program and Chabad Hebrew School. Amongst many talents, Miriam is a gifted organizer and is the Program Director for Chabad of Sunnyvale. The community and youth events which Chabad of Sunnyvale has been become famous for, are a product of Miriam's creativity and dedication.
