Chabad at Santa Monica College. A full service chabad geared for students and young professionals in Santa Monica.

Chabad at S. Monica College (SMC) was founded by Rabbi Avrohom Halevi Levitansky OBM - Shliach of Simcha Monica and director of Jewish Released Time just prior to his passing in 2007.

He appointed his son Rabbi Eli M. Levitansky together with his wife Mirel to open a Chabad center for Jewish students on campus.

Going away to college is a priceless opportunity to mature and thrive intellectually, socially and politically.

For Jewish students it is also an opportunity to deepen and broaden one’s Jewish identity, and enhance the sense of commitment and responsibility to the greater Jewish community — on campus, at home, across America and throughout the world.

What they offer

Chabad of SMC is a Chabad house on campus in S. Monica, led by Rabbi Eli Moshe Levitansky.

There is a synagogue on the premises. Visitors are welcomed for Shabbat and holiday meals. Kosher meals are available on a meal plan. They kosher kitchens for the community. There is a mikveh for men.

Classes run regularly and one-to-one study can be arranged. There is a library.

For children there is a children's club and a mother-and-child group.

Older children and young adults have bar and bat mitzvah instruction.

They officiate at weddings and funerals. Couples are prepared for marriage.

The center visits patients in hospital, looks after the elderly and distributes food packages.

There is a women's group. Mezuzos and tefillin can be checked here.
