While Chabad has been serving the Oakland Jewish Community since 1917 (see Our History ), our current organization was founded in 2006. Our mission was inspired by the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, a leader who cared for every Jew.

What they offer
Chabad Jewish Center of Oakland is a Jewish community centre in Oakland, led by Rabbi Dovid Labkowski.
There is a synagogue on the premises. They kosher kitchens for the community.
Classes run regularly, one-to-one study can be arranged, courses from the Jewish Learning Institute are taught and public lectures are held.
For children there is a preschool, a children's club and a mother-and-child group.
Older children and young adults have bar and bat mitzvah instruction, a bar mitzvah club and a young professionals' circle.
They officiate at weddings, circumcisions and funerals. Couples are prepared for marriage.
The center visits patients in hospital, visits Jewish prisoners, looks after the elderly and provides humanitarian aid.
